Ava’s Story:

Why We Do What We Do

My grandmother is 68 and lives alone in a community in Scottsdale, Arizona. When I would call her, I could hear it in her voice—she felt stuck. Her community didn’t offer any fitness or movement classes, and her days were becoming more and more sedentary. She would call me asking what exercises she could do, how she could move safely, and what might give her more energy.

But underneath those questions was something deeper: frustration, loneliness, and even depression. She didn’t feel like herself anymore.

So I went to stay with her.

For three weeks, we moved together every single day. Nothing extreme. Just intentional movement—balance work, light strength training, stretching, and walking. I watched her slowly come back to life.

Her mood shifted first. She laughed more. She stopped talking about feeling “stuck.” Her energy came back. She stood taller and felt capable again.

Movement didn’t just change her body; it changed her spirit.

That’s when it clicked for me. There are so many seniors living in communities just like hers, with no access to guided movement, slowly losing confidence, independence, and joy.

I realized this isn’t just about exercise. It’s about dignity. It’s about connection. It’s about giving seniors their spark back.

And that’s why I do this.

We don’t rush. We don’t push. We guide.
